International Mendel Day also marks the anniversary of the presentation of Mendel's research conclusions in 1865 - 160 years ago.
156th anniversary of Mendel's presentation of the experiments with plant hybrids
Exactly 156 years ago, on 8 March 1865, Gregor Johann Mendel presented the results of his experiments on plant hybrids. His colleagues from the Society of Natural Society were hardly as impressed as they might have been, had they but known they were witnessing the announcement of one of the greatest discoveries in the history of mankind.
