Researcher's Night 2025

16 Sep 2025

On Friday, 26 September, we will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Researchers' Night in Czechia! As every year, a number of faculties and departments of Masaryk University, including the Mendel Museum, will participate. This time, we will explore the theme of ‘Wealth’ during the night – and the programme that visitors can look forward to in Brno is indeed rich! As in previous years, a special bus line will be operating across the city during the event so that you can enrich yourself with science as much as possible.

At the Mendel Museum, you can look forward to the following open exhibitions:

  • Gregor Johann Mendel – The Story of a Humble Genius
  • Genetics: A Fascinating Journey into the Cell Nucleus
  • Mendel's Room
  • Old Brno Museum - Treasures of the Monastery

At the same time, we are preparing a station with an accompanying programme on the theme of ‘Wealth’:

Riches in a Pod

  • Join us for a look at the pea and its relatives from a slightly different angle! You'll find out why pea plants are so valuable - not only as food, but also for soil, agriculture and scientific research. Come and discover what the ‘ordinary’ pea can do and what riches it really holds.

The Intellectual Wealth of the Brothers of the Order of St. Augustine

  • Come and get a glimpse into the world of the Augustinian monastery, which was not only a spiritual centre, but also a hub of ideas, science and culture. You will meet personalities such as the abbot Napp, the philosopher Klácel or the composer Křížkovský, and discover the importance of their time and the sciences they pursued.
