FRIDAY 18TH FEBRUARY
9-12 AM
The first international workshop dedicated to the Augustinian abbey and its role as a centre of science and culture in Brno and the European context will mainly focus on summarising the current state of research. This is essential to the formulation of new directions of research. Besides the indisputable innovative achievements of Abbot Mendel, the monastery has been graced by other remarkable figures from as far back as the Late Middle Ages, whose legacies deserve closer attention. Note should also be made of several as-yet unknown collectors of immensely valuable musical compositions and printed posters that document cultural developments in Brno and the surrounding region in the pre-modern age.
Workshop speakers will include Prof. PhDr. Miloš Štědroň, Csc., Prof. PhDr. Jiří Sehnal, CSc., Dr. Matthias Pernerstorfer, and others.
Presented by Mgr. Vladimír Maňas, Ph.D.
